  • Middle Earth was clearly defined in Jacksons Trilogy, whereas in Bakshi's it feels disconnected, and vague. #
  • @FatboyRoberts yes! The score is so much fun, and the voice casting is a lot of fun. Some of the same cast from the BBC Radio production. in reply to FatboyRoberts #
  • @RevGWCSean did you see it in IMAX 3D? I still haven't seen it, but I hear that's the way to go. in reply to RevGWCSean #

  • I know that advertising keeps many sites afloat, but completely taking over a screen, before letting me access a page? That is too much. #
  • @rejects thats absolutely not true. It keeps the sites that rely on advertising as a source of revenue afloat. in reply to rejects #
  • @rejects they pay for their sites with money made from their day jobs, because they just love producing content so much, they'll pay for it. in reply to rejects #
  • @rejects or they have their sites hosted on WordPress.com or Blogspot sites, and again, write for the love of it. in reply to rejects #
  • @willschiff @rejects I know we all want to make money off of this endeavor somehow, but don't let that get in the way. #

  • @Vactor yeah, I guess I can see the Adam West in it too. in reply to Vactor #
  • Is there anyone out there that can explain how awesome Scott Pilgrim is, without telling me to read the comics? Use your words, people. #
  • @Vactor you know, I like the idea that he's channeling Adam West much more than Shatner. I'm glad you pointed that out. in reply to Vactor #
  • Hmmm the common thread amongst the fans seems to be the fact that it references video games? Apparently that's where I'm not getting it. #
  • Folks, the thing is, I really want to like Scott Pilgrim. I feel like I'm missing some key that will unlock it's awesomeness for me. But… #
  • @Devindra honestly, reading all of these reactions, I feel like I have no soul, in voicing my opinion. I want you all to unlock it for me. in reply to Devindra #
  • @EricVespe I get the basics of it, but I don't see what is so revolutionary about it, other than the fact that it's referencing those things in reply to EricVespe #
  • @Devindra isn't that the job of a critic, to unlock the experience for those interested in something new. To intellectually share their love in reply to Devindra #
  • @Vactor I don't think I'm over-analyzing anything at this point. I want the fans to explain it to me, rationally, and intelligently. in reply to Vactor #
  • @Devindra that sounds like a cop out to me. 😉 in reply to Devindra #
  • @rejects Agreed, I can't wait to see it again. in reply to rejects #
  • Saying "read the books" is akin to saying "I don't know how to relate this to someone who hasn't read the books." Isn't that your job? #
  • @Devindra thats a good point. Maybe I'll save this conversation for after the film is released. in reply to Devindra #

  • Taking a break from Star Trek. Heading to bed, watching Sin City, it feels like it's been years since I put this DVD on. #

  • We are sitting about ten feet away from Carla Gugino. Yep. #
  • Technical difficulties at the Elektra Luxx screening, people are leaving. The picture cut out an hour in. #SXSW #

  • RT @theauteurs: Attn #SXSW: tomorrow get exclusive access to the world's most prestigious film festival: Cannes http://bit.ly/5EEUtU #
  • Waiting for the late bus, trying to think of how I'm going to write about this half-screening. I mean I liked the title sequence but… #
  • Is it fair to review a movie you've only seen half of? What if it got really good once Malin Ackerman showed up? #
  • What a long day… Tomorrow morning: Documentary History in an Interactive World, from Nanook to @Nanook. #
  • @Vactor there are literally over a thousand free legal songs from SXSW that you can download right now 🙂 in reply to Vactor #

  • @Vactor actually, this is it. http://sites.google.com/site/sxswtorrent/ in reply to Vactor #
  • So after waiting for the bus that never showed up when it was supposed to, I broke down and took a cab back to Vanessa's, finally home. #
  • So far I have not made it to any screenings at the Drafthouse. Tomorrow night and Tuesday, I'm setting up camp there. #
  • @RadioConelrad it was supposed to be there. Two other dudes were in the same situation, all of us on smartphones confirming the bus schedule in reply to RadioConelrad #
  • Although it's not very much money, I feel so morally opposed to paying for a taxi when a bus will do. #
  • After thinking more about Elektra Luxx, I am not the target audience for that movie. I can't see myself ever renting it, let alone buying it #
  • @fistfulofmedia i know, I'd be ashamed if I made it all the way here without going there. I couldn't look myself in the mirror. in reply to fistfulofmedia #
  • There was a lot of really great ideas thrown around at the Cinema in a Digital Era panel today, about social tech options. #
  • One thing that has been brought up again and again at the various panels: long form narratives are dying, and are archaic. #
  • The idea of a two hour film was never something etched in stone at the beginning of time, it grew out of people spending a night out. #
  • @Marshy00 I'm doing ok with the busses and taxis, but I'm sure if you have a hotel nearby, you'll do just fine in reply to Marshy00 #
  • Did anyone else realize the naked guy in the elevator in Elektra Luxx was the dude from Mad Men? All bearded and shaggy. Yet still a creep. #
  • As far as panels over the next couple days go, tomorrow is another Doc. panel, and Tues. I have Interactive access, for a Hulu panel… #
  • There is also the panel on the future of the home entertainment setup by a guy from Microsoft, who handles the Xbox media center (Netflix!). #
  • .@jeremypair exactly! As the technology improves, we should be able to rethink institutions. Let them evolve without fearing the future in reply to jeremypair #
  • Whatever new features are added to the iPhone that us released this summer, please please use a better battery, it is painful. #

  • @foxtotally did you watch it? in reply to foxtotally #
  • @foxtotally I don't think it'll be House, since the Janus made it sound like it's still under construction. Maybe the Thin Red Line though. in reply to foxtotally #
  • And they're in! June @Criterion releases: Mystery Train, Close-Up, and Everlasting Moments! Jarmusch, Troell, and Kiarostami! #
  • @Massawyrm what are you seeing today? #

  • Taking the shuttle to the Alamo Lamar. Is there wifi around there to get work done before the screening? #
  • @moiseschiu thanks man! What are you seeing tonight? in reply to moiseschiu #

  • Oh man, I'm in the front corner for Centurion, my neck is going to kill me in the morning, I think it'll be worth it. #
  • A late night, hyperbolic tweet about Centurion: The best Iraq War movie set in ancient Britain. Semi-joking. #
  • This movie had IED's, Decapitation, Kidnapping, Guerilla Warfare, Imperialists, and politicians complaining about the weather. #Centurion #
  • @FyodorFish as soon as I get home on Wednesday evening, I'll be posting lots of SXSW reviews in reply to FyodorFish #

  • Are there press notes up online for Centurion? I can't remember all of the names, or even begin to know how to spell some of them. #
  • I don't remember wanting to fly thousands of miles to recreate the Portland weather in Austin. Had to run in the rain to catch my bus. #

  • I just saw my favorite film of the festival, a short film that in fact brought tears to my eyes: Plastic Bag, by Ramin Bahrani. #
  • Not only is this film expertly captured visually, with an incredible score, it is narrated by none other than Werner Herzog. #
  • Those of you that missed the Futurescapes screening, they are available online, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. #

  • While this bar lured me in with it's evolutionary name, Darwins Pub is pretty lame. #
  • One more thing on Plastic Bag: the film projected on a huge screen, where it fills ones field of vision, dramatically adds to it's impact. #
  • @ErikDavis I'm heading to Elektra Luxx too, after this cheap beer is finished. #SXSW in reply to ErikDavis #
